Facilities

Woodshop

Use of the woodshop is open to all residents, however, due to liability concerns, we ask that residents defer to the wood shop staff for more difficult endeavors. There will be regular hours each day when residents can come and speak to the staff about what projects they would like to use the wood shop for.

Recording Studio

The recording studio is open to all residents. The recording studio staff will be on hand to schedule recording sessions, offer assistance with equipment and work on production with residents who would like to make use of this facility.

Screen-Printing Lab

The screen-printing lab is open to all residents. There will be hours each day when the staff is available to assist residents who would like to make use of this facility. Residents with screen-printing experience are welcome to use the lab at any time.

*please note, while we can provide all equipment, inks and cleaning supplies, etc. residents must provide their own paper, fabric or other items to print on.

Library

The library provides wireless internet. The library will have some periodicals and books, we encourage you to bring more to add to it and share. Also in the library is a standard ink jet and a standard laser printer.

Studios

Communal studio space is located in a few buildings throughout the premises. Each resident will be able to have a workspace in one of these locations if they choose.

Additionally, residents can choose to set up work spaces in their rooms, on one of the many large porches, in the screen-printing lab, library or in the open landscape.

Sleeping Accommodations

Residents will be bunking in the main lodge. Each room is really 2 floors, so while you will have at least one roommate, there is a lot of space for comfort and privacy. Each room also has its own bathroom and kitchenette and most rooms have access to a porch or balcony. Some residents may also be staying in small private apartments or in a shared cabin.

    Hi there-

For those of you coming July 21- 26, I wanted to let you know about the project I’m working on entitled “Camp Beaver,” which will consist of daily camp-craft based art making and nightly campfires complete with acoustic instruments, sing-a-longs, marshmallows, and whiskey.

So remember to bring along your acoustic instruments! I can teach you both the G and D chords, and possibly even Am.

    Cheers,
    Betsy O

Will we be able to print halftone images for our screens on site? I would like to work on some larger cmyk prints and need to know if I should prep all of my images and bring transparencies with me. What size screens and light tables will be available?

    • June 23, 2010 4:45 am

We will have the ability to print on transparencies (which we provide), however this is limited to 8 x 10″- standard printer size. So if you will be working with larger images you may want to print those transparencies ahead of time.

      We have a variety of screens ranging from 27 x 27″ to 8 x 10″

We have one light table measuring 30 x 24″

Is anyone bringing a sewing machine that they wouldn’t mind sharing? I’m thinking of bringing one of mine but would rather not cart that hulk halfway across the country.

    • July 5, 2010 7:57 pm

      Hey Elina,

I will be bringing my sewing machine which is open for anyone to use. I know of at least one other person who will mainly be sewing during the first session, so if you need it then, you may have to share.

I might try to procure another one as well.

What mesh count are the screens in the screen-printing studio? Also, do you have a vacuum table? If so, what size?

Sorry for the delayed response. We do not have a vacuum table, just light table that we pile books on top of the keep the screen flat. I am not sure about mesh size- most of our screens are geared toward printing on fabric, but we have a variety.
Hope that helps. See you soon.
